Donating blood here in Mexico has different rules to other countries. If you are willing to donate blood please check the following requirements so that you don’t waste your time or that of the blood bank.
There is only one blood bank in the area, the Puerto Vallarta Blood Bank. It is on the 2nd floor at Hospital San Javier, across from where the cruise ships dock. The Blood Bank is open from 8 am to 3 pm Monday through Saturday.
If you are donating for a specific person it is very important that you give the blood bank that person’s name and which hospital they are in. Then contact Pamela Thompson (see details below) who will follow up on this.
Although the list comes directly from the Blood Bank Director, it is not complete. Medical professionals will discuss and evaluate each donor’s health history and activities in a confidential setting prior to blood donation. Donor eligibility criteria is intended to protect the health and safety of the donor as well as the patient who will receive the transfusion.
