Northbound: ALL traffic is being detoured on to the lateral just past the Walmart. There is no “protected” left turn (arrow) at the intersection. BOTH lateral lanes proceed through the intersection and then merge back on to the main highway.
Southbound: Not as big a problem as northbound. Traffic is down to one lane just past the light. Using the far right lane of the lateral (if you see that the main road is backing up) can work well (can actually work better since the far right lateral lane gets to move through the intersection prior to the main traffic).
The image below (San Vicente-Puerto Vallarta) is, I believe, mislabeled. I believe it was meant to read Bucerias-Puerto Vallarta. I do not, however, recommend it. Flamingos has added additional topes and there is always the guard gates you need to traverse to get through that way.
In any case…be careful, be safe and be courteous.
