Biblioteca Rey Nayar

This library was built and operates with funds from community fund raising events and private donations. The collection consists of Spanish literature for children and adults and a network of computers for public use. There is no charge for library cards or borrowing or computer use.

The location is on the east side of Bucerias, one block north of Estaciones on Camino Viejo al Valle. It is a bright blue building with bougainvillea on the street side, roughly parallel to Colegio Bucerias.

Spanish speaking volunteers are requested for occasional staffing and for special events. We encourage those learning the language to join in and practice with us. Language skills are not required for other important projects such as painting, gardening, sorting, organizing and preparing books for borrowing. Volunteering with the library guarantees good company and good service for all.

Donations of Spanish language books for children are greatly appreciated. At this time, 2015, there is a need for adolescent and teen books starting at the level of “chapter books”. Most cities in Canada and the USA have book stores with Spanish collections. Donations of English books are also valued. The children’s books are placed with English classes in local schools and the adult books go into our fundraising book sales.

Our library supports school homework at all levels through books and computer searches. Families can find literature and information at no cost. Our purpose is to support the culture and education of the Bucerias community. Please check our Wish List for items needed at the library.
